When customers perform an Android update on their Samsung smartphone – which customers must do to benefit from the latest security updates – they find a notification waiting after the operating system has been installed.

WordPress users with the Advanced Custom Fields plugin on their website should upgrade after the discovery of a vulnerability in the code that could open up sites and their visitors to cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks. Essentially, it allows someone to run JavaScript within another person's view of a page, allowing the attacker to do things like steal information from the page, perform actions as the user, and so on. That's a big problem if the visitor is a logged-in administrative user, as their account could be hijacked to take over the website.

Unity Software announced plans to cut about 600 jobs, or 8% of its workforce, according to a company filing Tuesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The video game software developer said it will restructure “specific teams” and that the layoffs will help the company position itself for “long-term and profitable growth.” A company spokesperson declined to provide further details.

We had expected to see it last year, but the Fold didn’t make the cut for I/O in 2022, and rumors about its launch haven’t slowed down in the year since. After adding support for verified brand logos in 2021, Gmail is now going further by adding a blue checkmark to emails. The existing system is based on the Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) standard, where brand logos appear in the “avatar slot” next to the sender’s name and address. For example, instead of a generic “B” against a plain background, Bank of America can show its official flag logo.
