Browser extensions pushed malware to 4.3M Chrome, Edge users

A seven-year malicious browser extension campaign infected 4.3 million Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge users with malware, including backdoors and spyware sending people's data to servers in China. The attackers, which Koi named ShadyPanda, played the long game: publishing legitimate extensions, accumulating thousands or sometimes millions of downloads over several years, and then pushing a malware-laden update that auto updates across the entire user base.

TikTok users flock to Chinese app RedNote before US ban

TikTok users in the US are migrating to a Chinese app called RedNote with the threat of a ban just days away. The move by users who call themselves "TikTok refugees" has made RedNote the most downloaded app on Apple's US App Store on Monday. RedNote is a TikTok competitor popular with young people in China, Taiwan and other Mandarin-speaking populations.

Blizzard’s Final Attempt to Keep World of Warcraft Online in China Fails

Blizzard announced back in November that it would stop selling the majority of its games in China and suspend game services on Jan. 23. It brings to an end a 14-year partnership with Chinese publisher NetEase, and will result in the very popular World of Warcraft MMO going offline for Chinese players.
